BBC News: 'The Attica Prison Rebellion'

Source:BBC News- with a documentary about the 1971 Attica Prison riot.

"On September 9th 1971 inmates at Attica maximum security facility in New York State rioted and seized control of the jail, taking guards hostage.

When negotiations failed, the authorities stormed the prison, dropping tear gas from helicopters and firing hundreds of live rounds. At least 39 people were killed, including nine of the hostages.

Former prisoner, Carlos Roche, spoke to Witness History and described the chaos in this video produced in 2016."

From BBC News

"The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is the national broadcaster of the United Kingdom. Headquartered at Broadcasting House in London, it is the world's oldest national broadcaster, and the largest broadcaster in the world by number of employees, employing over 22,000 staff in total, of whom approximately 19,000 are in public-sector broadcasting.[1][3][4][5][6]

The BBC is established under a royal charter[7] and operates under its agreement with the secretary of state for digital, culture, media and sport.[8] Its work is funded principally by an annual television licence fee[9] which is charged to all British households, companies, and organisations using any type of equipment to receive or record live television broadcasts and iPlayer catch-up.[10] The fee is set by the British Government, agreed by Parliament,[11] and is used to fund the BBC's radio, TV, and online services covering the nations and regions of the UK. Since 1 April 2014, it has also funded the BBC World Service (launched in 1932 as the BBC Empire Service), which broadcasts in 28 languages and provides comprehensive TV, radio, and online services in Arabic and Persian.

Around a quarter of the BBC's revenue comes from its commercial subsidiary BBC Studios (formerly BBC Worldwide), which sells BBC programmes and services internationally and also distributes the BBC's international 24-hour English-language news services BBC World News, and from BBC.com, provided by BBC Global News Ltd. In 2009, the company was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise in recognition of its international achievements.[12]

From its inception, through the Second World War (where its broadcasts helped to unite the nation), to the popularisation of television in the post-WW2 era and the internet in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, the BBC has played a prominent role in British life and culture.[13] It is colloquially known as the Beeb, Auntie, or a combination of both (Auntie Beeb)"

From Wikipedia

Just for the record: I'm not in favor of prison riots. Also for the record: I'm not some hippie-lefty, or Black Nationalist, or some anarchist, who believes that prisons just makes society worst. I believe in the rule of law and that we even have to have responsible, well-funded, well-run prisons, for people who represents serious threats to society.

Having said all of this, I can see why the inmates at Attica Prison rioted the way that they did in 1971. And had they not have done that, we may never had known how inhumane the living conditions were there. We wouldn't have known about the prison overcrowding, how understaffed the prison, the low-quality food, the lack of plumbing, heat, air conditioning, the lack of inmates to get any rehabilitation and have any shot at successfully making it in society once they're released from prison.

So in this sense at least, it was probably a good thing that Attica inmates rioted and did what they did. Not what they did to the prison staff that they took hostage, but to let the outside world in on what they go through everyday at that prison.

Jonny Armett: 'The Laker Team Above All: 1987 Lakers'

Source:Jonny Arnett- the big three of the Showtime Los Angeles Lakers.

"A breakdown of what made the 1987 Showtime Lakers so dominant.

The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.

My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!

I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics."

To answer Jonny Arnett's questions: the 1987 Los Angeles Lakers were not just the best team in Showtime Lakers history, but the team of the 1980s, and I believe the best team ever.

You can start with the fact that the Lakers of this era not just started 3 franchise, Hall of Fame players in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the greatest center of all-time and I believe the best player in NBA history.

And then Earvin Magic Johnson, the greatest player to ever play point guard and perhaps the best all around player in NBA history.

The Lakers also had Big James Worthy, who would be the best all around player on most NBA teams during that era.

How about the greatest head coach in Pat Riley, at least from the 1980s, the great general manager, at least from the 1980s and one of the best NBA players ever in Jerry West.

The 87 Lakers were the best offensive NBA team in the league, at least during the 87 season and the best defensive team that season as well.

The Lakers had role players like Byron Scott, who would've been an All Starr off-guard on most other NBA teams. Their sixth-man Michael Cooper, would've been the starting off-guard on most other NBA teams. Their backup center number one big man off the bench Mychal Thompson, was a 20 point a game scorer and mid-range double-figure scorer, before he came to Los Angeles.

Even with the fact their their starting center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar turned 40 that season and was in his 18th season, he was still give the Lakers 17 points, 6 rebounds, a block, and 3 assists a game, and was still one of the best centers in the NBA at this point. Teams still had to double team or give up easy baskets to him. You can talk about Phil Jackson's Chicago Bulls from the 1990s all you want, but the Lakers as a team were better than the Bulls. The Lakers best players and role players were better than the Bulls. And I would also take the Boston Celtics from the 80s over the 90s Bulls as well.

ABC Sports: MLB 1988- MLB All Star Game: American League vs National League

"1080 Quality.  If there is a better one, I'll take mine down.  All original, no scrolling banners. Please subscribe to see old-school clips and games from the best decade in sports history. No copyright intended.  Just for fun!"

From 1980s Sports Home

If you like offense in baseball, as opposed to great pitching duels, the Cincinnati Riverfront Stadium is a great baseball stadium for you. Almost no foul territory at Riverfront, 330 down the lines, 370 in the gaps, Ohio is always very hot and humid in the summer, so the ball carried very well there. Plus, both teams being loaded with power and line drive hitters and with the astroturf field, the ball moved very fast there.

The Hannibal TV: 'Lex Luger on his Friendship With Sting'

Source:The Hannibal TV- in the 1980s and 90s, Lex Luger was The Total Package in the WCW.

"Lex Luger on his Friendship with Sting

Multiple Time World Champion and former WWE, WCW and WBF Superstar "The Total Package" Lex Luger talks about how his longtime friendship with Sting got started despite Lex being rude to the Stinger at first."

I can't imagine a pro wrestler who had a better and more accurate nickname to describe himself as a pro wrestler, then Lex Luger. Here's a man who was 6'5, 275-280 pounds, with 4-5% body fat, who was very quick and athletic. I mean who looked like one of those great NFL pass rushing defensive ends, where like every offensive tackle is either too slow, or not strong enough to block him. Similar to let's say Howie Long with the Los Angeles Raiders.

Lex Luger was The Total Package for about 5 years in the late 80s, early 90s in World Championship Wrestling, because of the physical qualities that I just laid out. And it's just a damn shame as far what has happened to him since where now he just looks like a normal tall man on the street, because of all the weight and muscle that he lost.

Patrick McCarthy: MISL 1984- Pittsburgh Spirit @ Cleveland Force: Playoffs

Source:Patrick McCarthy- let the Force be with the Spirit. LOL

"The Pittsburgh Spirit are trying to recover from a huge loss in Game 3 and force a Game 5 back home."

From Patrick McCarthy

Cleveland and Pittsburgh are major rivals, if not arch-rivals in multiple sports. The Browns and Steelers in the NFL and in the 1980s the Force and Spirit. If indoor soccer would ever become a major professional sport, rivalries like this that brings fans to the game, if what that league would need.

Azteka 230: Sexy Biker Chick- From a B-Movie

Source:Azteka 230- Sexy Biker Chick, from a 1990s b-movie.
Source:The New Democrat

“Biker Chick in Tight Blue Levis 501 Jeans.” Originally from Azteca 320, but the video was deleted or blocked by YouTube.

This might not be fair because I have no idea what the name of this movie is, or have even seen it. But from this short clip of it, it looks like one of those bad movies, that are poorly written, with real cheesy characters, but with at least one sexy woman in it that sort of comes in and saves the day. And at least keeps guys in the seats, or prevents us from changing the channel.

As someone whose been dealing with insomnia my whole adult life, I can personally testify about being up at two or three am with nothing to do and watching the tube, trying to pass the time until I’m tired enough to go to bed. And you see a lot of cable movies on like this for guys like me. Who can’t get to sleep, but perhaps looking to get off.

And seeing late movies like this that were made for about hundred bucks, well perhaps more than that and the movie looks a lot like this. Not even a b-movie or perhaps even a c-movie with a cast that no one has ever heard of or seen before, because they make their livings doing movies like this.

You see movies like this late at night all the time on Cinemax, HBO and Showtime. Basically a bad movie, but with a very physically attractive cast wearing tight sexy outfits. Doing things that sexy people do, like the woman in this scene. This video you see here, is from YouTube. Called: “Biker Chick in Tight Blue Levis Jeans.” That is what you in movies like this. Gorgeous sexy women who make their livings getting guys off. Basically, because that is what they’re good at.

There are plenty of good movies with gorgeous sexy women, who can act as well and where they have a main role in the movie. And you see them kick ass in skin-tight outfits and boots. Generally skinny denim jeans and boots. And in many movies with the woman in Levis and boots. One For The Money, with Katherine Heigle from 2012, is an example of that.

But lets say you work nights and get home late and like most people aren’t ready to go to bed as soon as you get home even if it’s after midnight, or you been partying all night, or just got home from a long flight and you’re flipping around the tube when you get home. You’ll see movies like this. With a no name cast, with no name writers, where even the plot wasn’t thought out very well. With the main focus of the movie gorgeous women who kick ass, in tight outfits.
