7/23/2020 - Let’s imagine that Rodney Dangerfield’s wife is exactly as he says she is during his monologues and that he’s not just joking around about her. And while we’re doing that, let’s also imagine that all the snow that Minneapolis is supposed to get next January, went to Los Angeles instead and as a result Minneapolis doesn’t get any snow next January. Actually, they get a heat wave instead, while Los Angeles is cancelling school days, because they have too much snow on the ground: since we’re imaging here.

So Mrs. Dangerfield is so stupid that she forgets her own phone number, misspells her own name, gets lost in her own bathroom, parks her car at the wrong house, etc, she’s basically idiot who has to cheat to pass an IQ test, then what the hell is Mr. Dangerous Rodney Dangerfield doing with her? As he says in his act, his wife is a moron, his kids don’t like him, I mean if his own kids don’t like him, maybe he has an actual point about no respect.

I wonder if Rodney Dangerfield’s wife was in on his wife and bit and no respect routine and maybe was actually purposely feeding him material (which perhaps tasted better than her cooking) and this is how the Dangerfield’s got along. His wife and kids give him great material to work with and then he uses it and as a result he’s very successful and makes a lot of money for himself and his family.

9/19/2019 - On a personal note: I don't know about you, but I'm up for another Dirty Harry marathon on Sundance or AMC, or whatever the network. Maybe because the weather is changing and the summer might be finally ending in Washington ( knock on wood ) that the Dirty Harry movies are all shot and take place in San Francisco ( perhaps the only big city in America that gets year round fall and spring ) or  I just love Clint Eastwood, but it takes me back to a place when movie were just movies ( for the most part ) and were a great escape from reality. Not designed to make some political statement.

This scene to me is the perfect example of Clint Eastwood not just kicking ass, but being the master smart-ass and comedic actor that he always was. You could flip a coin as far as who is the best action/comedy actor or all-time: Burt Reynolds or Clint Eastwood. I would go with Burt because he was a funnier man, but Eastwood is in that same class of actors who could kick ass and make people laugh in the exact same scene. Probably the best ever at combing both roles as the tough guy and comedian in the same role, scene, and movie.

This is the perfect Dirty Harry scene, because why is San Francisco Police Inspector Harry Callahan called Dirty Harry, because he takes all the dirty jobs ( meaning dangerous ) that no other cop would be insane, drunk, high enough, or have the balls to do and always gets his man and successfully completes his missions. With his boss the Lieutenant always getting on his case about not following police procedure and doing it by the book. If Inspector Callahan waited for his Lieutenant's OK on this, the plane probably either takes off with all of those hostages, or the airport is shut down with SFPD having to deal with a serious hostage crisis. So this is the perfect Dirty Harry scene.

2/21/2019 - Gilda, is a very good if not great movie that is sort of a great soap opera or dramatic comedy that has everything from mystery, to crime drama, to comedy even. But if you take Rita Hayworth out of the movie and replace her with an ordinary looking woman, or a woman who is pretty and maybe even sweet looking as well, but nothing special, I believe Gilda becomes a very mediocre movie. I believe there a lot of guys who could've played the Johnny character ( played by Glenn Ford ) and I believe Ford does a great job as well, but a lot of guys could've played Johnny.

Imagine Myra Breckinridge without Raquel Welch or Hart to Hart without Stefanie Powers, The Killers without Ava Gardner, they would still be good movies perhaps, Hart to Hart perhaps not because I don't believe would be a good show without Stefanie Powers, but there certain actresses and actors that without them the complexion of the movie or show changes dramatically. Sort of like a great basketball team without a certain player on the team, because they have this presence that is not just memorable, but unforgettable.

Rita Hayworth wasn't called The Love Goddess because someone in Hollywood went through a whole book of nicknames to give a random actress and decided that The Love Goddess was the best from the book to give any actress. She was The Love Goddess because millions of men in America and outside of America all wanted her and to be with her and be the Mr. Rita Hayworth the top pinup from the 1940s, a big reason why millions of American soldiers wanted to return from Europe and Japan in the 1940s and come back to America to see and listen to Rita Hayworth.

2/07/2019 - If you like action films, especially action/comedy I believe you'll really like Harley Davidson and The Marlboro Man. Which is really about two underachieving and immature drifters ( played by Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson ) who come from humble backgrounds, who grew up together and both end up back in their hometown together and find out that their friends are in trouble and their favorite hangout is going out of business, unless it comes up with a lot cash in a short period of time. They're not career criminals, but they're not angels either and end up stealing money from a bank that's run by crooks and the local mob there to save their bar.

Neither Harley Davidson ( which is Mickey Rourke's real name in the film ) or Marlboro ( which is Don Johnson's real name in the film ) are meant to be one place for a long period of time, or even weeks. Especially Harley who is not just a biker, but is a drifter who takes off every time he gets bored and gets into trouble or something happens to him that he can't deal with, because he's so immature. Which is why the last scene in the movie after the heroes save the day ( so to speak ) is so great, because what is Harley doing, but taking off again and picking up a young woman ( played by Mitzi Martin ) who is also a drifter and they ride off into the sunset together.
