"This Monday night game is the final game before the player strike. It's interesting, perhaps moreso than the game itself, to listen to them talk about the labor situation. Jim Kelly was the highest paid player at the time, making around 1.5 million.
Week 3 would be cancelled and Weeks 4-6 would be played by replacement players and picket line crossers."
From Classic Pats Games
One of the best rivalries in the AFC, but both the Patriots and Jets were headed downhill at this point. The Patriots wouldn't make it back to the AFC Playoffs until 1994 under head coach Bill Parcells. (Someone that New Yorkers might be familiar with) And the Jets wouldn't return to the playoffs until 1991 with head coach Bruce Coslett. And they were only 8-8 that season.
