Source:Turner Sports- the Blazers vs the Lakers from 1985. Perhaps the best Western Conference rivalry back then. |
"1985 NBA Playoffs: Blazers at Lakers, Gm 5 part 1/12 Western Conference Semifinal."
From Lake Ptic
If it wasn't for the Los Angeles Lakers and let's say the Lakers and Portland Blazers were in the separate divisions in the 1980s, I think the 1980s would've been a much better decade for the Blazers. They were in the Western Conference Playoffs a lot in the 1980s, but lost to the Lakers in 83, 85, and 89, in the playoffs during that decade. And they were loaded with talent, especially offensively, with players like Kiki Vandeweigh, Clyde Drexler, Clavin Nat, Kenny Carr, Steve Johnson late in the 1980s. But would lose to either the Dallas Mavericks or Lakers in the Western Conference Playoffs.
